A single root grows into a branching form by reaching for motes of light. Each mote pulls the nearest branch toward it and is consumed when the growth arrives; every new segment thickens the branches beneath it, so trunks emerge from the history of where the light was. No two runs grow the same shape. Left alone, light keeps drifting in and the form finishes itself.
